Nazarene Piccioni (NMI) served as radio operator aboard B-24J 42-50606 on the 12 October 1944 mission to Osnabruck.

The anti-aircraft hit that downed the aircraft struck the fuselage at the radio operator's position, tearing a hole approximately 4.5 feet long and 1 foot wide. Despite this, Piccioni was listed as returned to duty (RTD) on the MACR, indicating he survived.
