Served with 93rd Bomb Group, Hardwick, England. Participated in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe campaigns. On the 2nd mission the aircraft was badly shot up; on the 21st mission (Aug. 11, 1944) badly shot up again and flew a new B-24 to Wales; received R&R at Tiverton, Devon.

Born in Butternut, WI. Enlisted October 1943 in the USAAF. Basic training at Jefferson Barracks; Gunnery at Las Vegas AAB; crew training at Biggs Field, El Paso, TX.
Discharged Sept. 29, 1945 as staff sergeant. Received ETO Ribbon with four Battle Stars, Air Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters. Married over 44 years; four children, seven grandchildren. Semi-retired carpenter.
