Trained as B-24 pilot; flew two tours of combat — first with 93rd Bomb Group, then with 466th Bomb Group, with a 30-day leave in the States between tours.

Before and after.
Born June 21, 1918 in Connersville, IN; spent most of his life in Indianapolis. Has been in the advertising agency business since 1934. Enlisted in USAAC Sept. 15, 1941 as a private. Completed A&E School; promoted to corporal. Entered Aviation Cadets October 1942; graduated June 1943 as second lieutenant, Class 43E, Southeast Training Command.
After WWII, helped organize Indiana Air Guard. Called to active duty January 1951 for Korean War with 4th Fighter Interceptor Wing; became base commander at Kimpo, Korea. Called to active duty again in September 1961 during Berlin Wall crisis; base commander at Chambley Air Base, France. Served four years on Secretary of the Air Force Reserve Policy Commission. Retired 1967 as brigadier general with 20 decorations including Distinguished Flying Cross. Married Virginia Lee Fowler on July 1, 1945; one son, Kenneth E. Keene, Jr.
