John Keever remembered Captain Ken Gilbert as the only person he knew who flat spun a B-24 and lived: flying with a new crew he hit prop wash, recovered at about 10,000 feet, salvoed the bombs, and climbed back to the formation. Keever could still hear a waist gunner on the intercom calling, "There goes Gilbert."
