Born July 29, 1922 in Jefferson County, IL. Drafted Oct. 3, 1942; served six months in 96th Infantry Division, Camp Adair, OR. Entered aviation cadet training; graduated as second lieutenant bombardier/navigator April 1, 1944 at Victorville, CA.
After WWII, stayed in reserve; recalled to active duty in 1951. Served in Korea as clothing sales officer with 5th Air Force. Retired from Air Force Reserve as lieutenant colonel. Entire civilian life was in the grocery business; retired 1988. Married childhood sweetheart Betty Youngblood; four children, seven grandchildren.
