The Man Behind the Name
James Barrett was sent to the 8th Air Force in England and assigned to the 330th Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group, near Norwich. He flew 18 combat missions over Central Europe as a radio operator.
He received the EAME Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and two Air Medals. He was discharged on December 2, 1945.

James Barrett was born January 2, 1925. He entered the AAF on January 10, 1943, attending Radio School at Sioux Falls, SD and Gunnery School at Yuma, AZ. He was assigned to a B-24 crew in October 1944 and completed transition training at Casper, WY.
Barrett graduated from St. Cloud, MN on December 2, 1949. He worked as a carpet representative for 25 years before starting a retail carpet business, which he remained active in. He married Ruth Kopriva in 1952 and had nine children and 29 grandchildren.
