Arrived Hardwick, England July 24, 1944; assigned to 330th Bomb Sqdn., 93rd Bomb Group. Completed tour of 30 missions on lead crew on April 5, 1945. Served as squadron training officer from Feb. 28, 1945 until flying the Maulin Mallard B-24D back to Bradley Field on May 28, 1945.

Born July 30, 1923 in Chicago, IL; spent half his life on a farm near Ogema, WI. Enlisted in USAAC Dec. 14, 1942 in Chicago. Had finished two years at Illinois Institute of Technology. Completed aviation cadet flight training; graduated as second lieutenant pilot, Class 44-C, Stockton, CA. Flew co-pilot on B-17s at Yuma, AZ; then assigned as co-pilot on B-24s at Peterson Field, CO.
Discharged December 1945. Attended University of Minnesota; received BS degree in aeronautical engineering, December 1948. Joined Army National Guard December 1953; became helicopter pilot; retired March 15, 1968. Married July 10, 1948, Inez Trebil; three daughters, one son, three grandchildren. Owned S&L Manufacturing Corporation in Ogema, WI.
