The Man Behind the Name
Joined the Army Air Force as a Cadet Feb. 21, 1943. Commissioned and checked out as a B-24 Liberator pilot. Sent to Hardwick Air Base, England.
Flew 24 missions with the 93rd Bomb Group, 328th Bomb Sqdn. Shot down over Benthe, Germany and killed in action on Feb. 3, 1945, at age 27. Received the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Born Sept. 15, 1917 in Chicago, IL. Married Julia Blasovits on Nov. 28, 1942. Joined the Army Air Force as a Cadet on Feb. 21, 1943. Son Donald was born Feb. 19, 1944 in Pecos, TX — a week after receiving his Commission and checking out as a pilot on a B-24 Liberator.
His remains were brought back to Chicago for burial on June 5, 1949, with full Military Honors.
