Sgt. Girard J. Pepin (35409142) served as a gunner aboard B-24H 41-28228, 409th Bombardment Squadron, 93rd Bomb Group. The aircraft was lost on 5 February 1944 during a mission to Bordeaux, France.
Pepin bailed out and was taken prisoner of war. He reported that the plane broke apart in the air following fighter attacks over the Bordeaux area.
