The Man Behind the Name
S/Sgt. Edwin S. Novick served as tail gunner aboard B-24J 42-50606 on the 12 October 1944 mission to Osnabruck. His name appears as 'Norick' on the MACR form, corrected here per the German loss report.
Novick was killed when the aircraft was shot down. German records from Airbase Headquarters Achmer confirm he was interred at the Prisoner of War Cemetery, Achmer, Row 2, Grave 115.
After the war his remains were moved from the Prisoner of War Cemetery at Achmer, where he had been buried in Row 2, Grave 115, to the Netherlands American Cemetery at Margraten (Plot I, Row 6, Grave 21).
