§ Biography

1st Lt. Edward L. Robbins was pilot of B-24J 'Bar Fly' (42-100248), 409th Bomb Squadron, born in 1919 in Holt County, Missouri.

He was killed in action on 1 April 1944 when his B-24 was hit by enemy flak while returning from a bombing run over Pforzheim, Germany, and crashed near Reims, France. Nine airmen aboard perished, including radio operator T/Sgt. Jack R. McCallen; one crew member became a prisoner of war.
