The Ship
On May 12, 1944, anti-aircraft fire found the aircraft near Langenalza, Germany. Damaged beyond recovery, it went down and crashed at Craula, some ten kilometers southwest of the city. All ten crew members managed to bail out, but they came down in German-held territory and were captured. Each would spend the remainder of the war in a prisoner of war camp. The incident was recorded as MACR 4828.
