B-24D serial number 42-40627 assigned to the 93rd Bombardment Group. The aircraft was lost on 9 July 1943.
Information obtained from the Bulgarian Ministry of War indicated that two American bombers crashed at Kosharevo (42°42'N, 22°44'E) on 30 March 1944. Eleven bodies and the remains of approximately nine others were found when the grave was opened at the local cemetery. The bodies were almost wholly cremated.
This MACR file (3371) was routed through the 2nd Bombardment Division and Eighth Air Force in early 1944. A supplement was later issued by the Fifteenth Air Force in January 1945 to address the casualty status of Sgt Tony H. Morrish based on evidence gathered by the 2616th Investigating Detachment.
